From Asheville, NC

From the intersection of I-26 and I-40 take I-240 towards Asheville. Take the US 23-19 exit off I-240 (left exit toward Weaverville) Then take the US 25-70 exit towards Marshall. many miles later US 25-70 turns left and the road going straight is Hwy 208. Go straight. There is a sign indicating the miles to Greeneville at that point. Hwy 208 becomes Hwy 70 at the Tenn. state line. Go the 10th miles post and turn right on East Allens Bridge Road. Then follow the directions in paragraph 2 above.

 

From Knoxville, TN

Take I-40 east to I-81 North. to exit 23 which is 11E towards Greeneville. Go 12 miles to Business 11-E. Turn right towards Greeneville. about 1/4 mile is a stop light. Turn right on Hwy 70. Follow Hwy 70 about 6 miles South to East Allens Bridge Road. Turn Left. Go 2.5 miles and turn right, .1 mile and turn right and .8 mile and turn right on Kinser Park Lane. All turns starting at the left turn in East Allens Bridge Road are indicated by signs to Kinser Park. On Kinser Park Lane go the second drive on the left for the Log and Dogwood Cabins. It is paved at the top but you need to follow the gravel drive that goes down the hill (not the paved part to the left). At the bottom of the hill the Log Cabin is on the left, the Dogwood on the right. For the Redbud and Twin Oaks Cabins go to the third driveway on the left and follow the signs.

 

From Bristol, TN

Take I-81 to exit 36. Turn left towards Greeneville on Hwy 172. Go 12 miles to the first stop sign. Turn right and drive through Greeneville. You will be on Hwy 321. Outside of the main town you will come to Hyw 70. An auto parts store is on the left at that corner. Turn left on Hwy 70, go about 5 miles south and turn left on east Allens Bridge Road. Then follow the directions in paragraph two above.

Wealthy Irish immigrant William Dickson used a team of highly skilled Irish artisans and slaves to build this high Federal style mansion in 1821 for his only child, Catherine. In 1823 Catherine and her new husband, Dr. Alexander Williams, began a life of lavish entertaining. Guests at the mansion included three presidents, the Marquis de Lafayette, and David Crockett.

The Andrew Johnson National Historic Site and National Cementery interprets the life and legacy of the 17th President, Andrew Johnson's precidency, 1865-1869, illustrates the United States Constitution at work following President Lincoln's assassination and during attempts to reunify a nation torn by civil war. NATHANAEL GREENE MUSEUM (Map)

The Nathanael greene Museum is an Upper East Tennessee Regional Museum dedicated to preserving our heritage. The Museum was begun in 1983, and incorporated in 1986. At present the Museum consists of ten galleries, three exhibits and numerous independent displays. Two additional galleries are in the planning stages and will open soon.

The Carter Family Memorial Music Center, a non-profit organization, serves fans and supporters of old-time country and fold music through the presentation of weekly performances at the Carter Family Fold, in Hiltons, Virginia. It also honors the memory of the first family of country music, the legendary Carter Family (A.O. Carter, Sara Carter, and Maybelle Carter), whose first recordings (in 1927) are credited with giving birth to the commercial country music industry.

DAVY CROCKETT BIRTHPLACE STATE HISTORIC PARK (Map)

Davy Crockett's Birthplace has been preserved by the State of Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation as a historic site withinthe stae park system. The site consists of 105 partially wooded acres of land along the Nolichuckey River in Greene County, Tennessee. Learn more about Crockett's intriquing composite of history and folklore at the Tennessee Encyclopedia of History. Then make plans to come see where the legend began.

 

GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK (Map)

Ridge upon ridge of forest straddles the border between North Carolina and Tennessee in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. World renowned for its diversity of plant and animal life, the beauty of its ancient mountains, and the quality of its remmants of Southern Appalachian mountain culture, this is America's most visited national park.

 

CHEROKEE NATIONAL FOREST (Map)

Located in the Southern Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee, the Cherokke National Forest is divided into northern and southern sections by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. the 650,000-acre forest is the largest track of public land in Tennessee and adjoins other national forests in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia.

 

APPALACHIAN TRAIL

South of Damascus, Virginia, the Appalachian Trail follows segments of mountain rangers in the Cherokee National Forest, ascending to the high country of the North Carolina-Tennessee state linem and the highest mountains along the Trail, several above six thousand feet. The Appalachian Trail spans the diverse terrain of the Appalachian Mountains. Though the typical landscape is wooded, hense the nickname "the green tunnel", the Trail passes many scenic overlooks.

Our immediate area around the winery is a park like setting with trees, wildlife, soft ripple sounds of the stream and sounds of the river rolling over the rocks. We are located on 53 acres in Washington County, Virginia, along the South Holston river. Two miles down river is South Holston Lake, a resort lake. Abigdon is a tourist town here int he Appalachian mountains, 20 miles east from Bristol, Virginia. The area is known for outdoor activities of boating, hiking, camping, biking, horse back riding, skiing. Blue Grass music, story telling and mountain crafts. The virginia Creeper trail is 1/2 mile from our winery; bikers, horsemen/women, hikers enjoy this trail that goes from Abigdon to White Top Mountain. We are only 7 miles from Abingdon and 5 miles from Damascus-a town hosting the intersection of 5 different trails including the Appalachian Trail.
